2012 was a noteworthy and strategically significant year for TowerJazz. Our revenues grew by 5% over 2011, maintaining our position as the number one specialty foundry.
We bought the Nishiwaki factory in mid-2011 due to the capacity requirements dictated by our multi-year customer demand plan. This demand is now being realized and will be satisfied in the Nishiwaki factory with multiple projects such as the Vishay-Siliconix advanced technology transfer, a very large Asian-based fabless existing customer transfer of its highest volume flow to Nishiwaki, and multiple new Japanese and Korean customer engagements.

Our TS11IS hybrid CMOS image sensor (CIS) process offering, a combination of 0.11μm and 0.16μm platform allows customers to design higher resolution high-end sensors with smaller pixels and enhanced performance. The process is targeted for applications in high end photography, machine vision, 3D imaging and security sensors.
Our world-class SiGe BiCMOS and RF CMOS technologies enable many high speed consumer applications including: wireless transceivers and front-end modules, TV tuners and other set-top box and satellite receiver components, optical networking components, and radio transceivers in cell phone, WLAN, WiMAX and GPS devices.
IC Insights recently reported that the process technology gap between the "big four" and the rest of the pure play foundry industry has widened, and that TowerJazz was one of the few of "the rest" that will manufacture ICs at 90nm or below in 2012. In GSA's interview with Russell Ellwanger, CEO, TowerJazz, we discussed how TowerJazz has been able to offer leading-edge process technologies without the big budgets of "the big four"; Israel's entrepreneurial culture; TowerJazz's recent expansion into Japan.
